Meet R&B Artist
I was born in New York to interracial parents, but I was raised in East Atlanta also known as Zone 6. Drug and alcohol problems broke up our family. As a teen, only my closest friends knew that I could sing and I really only sung to impress a few girls. I had music in my blood, my father was a singer when he was younger, but football was going to be my way out of poverty.
I became a star quarterback, scouted by national high school football powerhouse Bradenton Prep and moved to Florida and my family soon followed. Things started to go downhill after a coaching scandal at the school caused me to lose eligibility and at the same time my family started struggling financially. I tried community college and played semi-pro football, but was also hustling on the side to make money. I was also singing, exploring my voice and songwriting ability. My mother eventually found drugs in the house and she kicked me out after a fight with her boyfriend so I moved back to ATL to pursue a music career, but with no real connections besides some childhood friends I was soon homeless and had to move in with an uncle in Virginia.
In Virginia, I had worked 2 jobs while putting my plan together. I did my research on the music industry, saved some cash and decided that Houston would be the best place for me to pursue a career in music so I rekindled my relationship with my mother, who had already moved to Houston with my siblings Quinten and Rylee, and moved to H-Town.
I hit the ground running and met some key people in the Houston music scene. DJ and Producer, XO gave me my first real opportunity to consistently be in the studio. We worked on my music and songwriting for other people. Soon, I had a hook on a StunnaBam single, which got me got me some radio exposure on 97.9 the Box, and a feature with Boston George called “I Know the Plug” made it on DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, which got me exposure back in the A. A feature on Kirko Bangz “Ah Yeah” on the “Fallin’ Up Mix” led to some label offers that just weren’t the right fit. I went into mid-Summer 2015, with performances with StunnaBam and Poone AMG at the 2ndAnnual GO DJ awards and then a feature and performance in the video for Short Dawg’s “Scandalous”.
Now I’m putting the final touches on “HIGHLIGHTS” EP, which is the first release for my “9Tails DYNASTY” with production from platinum producer’s Pyro and DJ RYU of Sound M.O.B., June James, XO and Superproducer TA. Keep it locked to UpstateAllstarzRadio.com where you can hear hits from “Angelo Dorsey”.
